GAMDW grew out of the vision of seven women in January 2005 - a Democratic candidate, a sales professional, a piano teacher, a business owner, an attorney, a social worker and a professor ... activists all!

The 2004 election was over, what could we do to keep the momentum going? How could we harness all that energy and effort toward a victorious 2006 and 2008?

Our answer was to create an organization that would raise the visibility of Democrats in the Arlington/Mansfield area of Tarrant County, Texas. We drew upon our personal networks and by April, 2005 we had our first major gathering. Our numbers grew and by July, 2005 we were officially accepted as a chapter of the statewide Texas Democratic Women and a Texas Political Action Committee (PAC).

We believe in the values and principles of the Democratic Party and recognize the urgent need for change in our county, our state and our country. Please join us in making a difference as we move on to Victory in 2008!
